June 30th, 2009 by Edgar

Hello, all, I hope everyone who plans on attending this year’s Summer Rally at Millsaps College in Jackson, Mississippi, is excited about the events scheduled for this great weekend of July 10 -12, 2009.  I cannot wait to see y’all there.  The weekend will include fun icebreakers, fascinating workshops, and fantastic service projects.  We are also proud to be welcoming guests from the Texas-Oklahoma District as well as the Kentucky-Tennessee District.

The board and I will be holding a board meeting Sunday, July 12, 2009, at which time we will be discussing important topics such as T.I.O.G.A., our fall training conference, District Convention, the Tomorrow Fund campaign, and proposed ammendments for the International Bylaws to be voted on at International Convention.

Our materials for the Tomorrow Fund campaign have been approved by the Kiwanis District Board, but our point system for awarding points to Kiwanis Clubs for their contributions to the Tomorrow Fund will be finalized in October at the beginning of the 2009-2010 Kiwanis fiscal and administrative year.  For those of you who are not familiar with the Tomorrow Fund, it consists of a service fund comprised of money collected from non-K-Family donors and used for projects such as travel scholarships for non-board members, service grants, and service initiatives as well as an administrative fund comprised of money collected from Kiwanis and Circle K alumni donors and used for items such as board travel and office expenditures, leadership training, and potential new club chartering fees.  The District Board has worked extremely hard to put these materials together, and this campaign which will be directed by lieutenant governor task forces promises continued Kiwanis and Circle K alumni support for the future.

Please stay tuned for the District Bulletin Inside the Circle for more details on the Tomorrow Fund campaign and other topics.
